Exclusive Revelation: Al-Bayda Medical Center Director Discloses Millions in Losses and Provides In-Depth Damage Assessment

The director of the medical center in Al-Bayda, Abdul-Rahim Maziq, revealed in an exclusive statement to our source about the city’s situation as a result of the floods and Hurricane Daniel that struck the city: “The city’s situation is considered catastrophic and in a state afflicted by floods, with power outages and all means of communication cut off, and rescue teams are trying to save families trapped by floods.”

He continued by saying: “The torrential rains entered Al-Bayda Medical Center as a result of the collapse of the built-up wall, and as a result, the building was evacuated and patients were evacuated from it.”

He added: “The material losses are very large, estimated at millions, and the loss of a number of important devices, such as the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine.”

He said that the death statistics “that reached us are 20 deaths, 7 from inside the city of Al-Bayda, 6 from the city of Shahat, and 7 from the Qandola region on the outskirts of the city of Al-Bayda.”

He reported that he had received many reports of deaths to Al-Bayda Medical Center, but so far they have not reached the center.

Exclusive: A source at CBL: “We provide support for bank balances in the Eastern Region worth 5.4 billion dinars”

A source at the Central Bank of Libya revealed in a special statement to our source that the Central Bank is forming a crisis cell and ongoing communication between the Governor, Seddiq Al-Kabeer, and the Deputy Governor, Marai Al-Barasi, and the branches of commercial banks, to support bank balances worth 5.4 billion dinars to help them confront the crisis and meet the needs of the government and citizens to support the affected areas in the eastern region.

The source explained in his statement to our source that an air bridge was announced starting tomorrow morning to transport liquidity shipments to Al-Abraq Airport in the city of Al-Bayda and Benina Airport in the city of Benghazi, in order to provide the regions’ liquidity needs.

It is noteworthy that this came due to the force majeure that the cities of the eastern region are going through as a result of Hurricane Daniel, and the declaration of the Derna region as a disaster area and some areas of eastern Libya.

Al-Kabeer gives instructions to disburse the financial allocations for Sebha Medical Center

The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Seddiq Al-Kabeer, during a meeting with the Deputy in the Presidential Council, Mr. Musa Al-Koni, today, Sunday, issued his instructions to disburse financial allocations to Sebha Medical Center so that it can perform the tasks assigned to it in serving patients.

Al-Koni discussed with Al-Kabeer mechanisms for overcoming the problems and financial difficulties that hinder the hospital’s work as a destination for patients in the southern region.

Al-Trabelsi: “Libya’s Efforts in Hosting Migrants and Border Plans with Tunisia”

The Minister of the Interior of the National Unity Government, Imed Trabelsi, stated that Libya is only a transit country and not the destination for migrants. They are not satisfied with the repercussions of this file on our country, just like the targeted countries.

He added that 270 migrants of different nationalities were deported from Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria and Bangladesh, and there will be other flights to deport the migrants successively. ‏

He said: “I value the efforts of the anti-immigration agency in all its branches, and we do not forget the role of the security services in the eastern, southern and central regions in combating this toxic phenomenon. Libya paid a large tax as a result of the issue of sheltering migrants. We call on everyone not to choose the path of death and to remain in their countries.”

He stated that our borders with Tunisia will be equipped, for the first time, with surveillance cameras and forces will be deployed along the borders.

He concluded by saying: “It requires intensified efforts between state institutions and citizens because of its security, health, economic and social repercussions.”

Exclusive: Ghaith Mrajaa to Our Source: “The Central Bank has not published its financial statements since 2010”

The former member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya, Mrajaa Ghaith, said in a special statement to our source, that the Central Bank has not published or prepared the financial statements since 2010, even for the bank without review and writing on them as “unreviewed,” as it excuses the failure of the Audit Bureau to complete the review. The report itself contains nothing new, the same errors and lack of transparency.

Ghaith stressed that it is not the bank’s jurisdiction to publish this report, as this is the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance, quoting a popular proverb that says, “Charity begins at home”.

Ghaith Mrajaa to Our Source: “Without a Central Bank Board of Directors, Who Decides Exchange Rate Reductions?”

The former member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya, Ghaith Mrajaa, confirmed in a statement to our source that there is no board of directors at the Central Bank, questioning who will take the decision to reduce the exchange rate.

Ghaith explained that the decision to reduce the exchange rate is a decision of the board of directors according to Banking Law No. 1 of 2005, and that such a decision requires a meeting of the bank’s board of directors.

Ghaith also said during his statement that there is no board of directors, so how will the decision be taken, unless the decision is made in violation of the law, that is, without a decision from the board of directors, and this is possible, stressing that it is not surprising that this would happen in light of the absence of oversight and accountability over the work of the Central Bank.

Al-Kabeer and Central Bank of Egypt Governor Explore Enhanced Collaboration in Technical Support and Knowledge Exchange

Today, Monday, during his meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Hassan Abdullah, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Seddiq Al-Kabeer, discussed the global economic and financial conditions and our region in particular, and increasing coordination and joint cooperation in the areas of technical support and exchange of experiences.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt welcomed the unification of the Central Bank of Libya, whose unification was announced by the Al-Kabeer and his deputy, Marai Al-Barasi, on August 20, stating that it had returned to a unified sovereign institution.

Al-Manfi Stresses the Importance of Returning Life to Murzuq and Renews his Call to CBL and the Ministries to Quickly Submit Financial Statements

The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, chaired the 5th meeting of the Supreme Finance Committee, in the presence of the committee members, stressing the importance of returning life to the city of Murzuq and implementing its reconstruction plans and the neglected areas in the south.

Al-Manfi praised the practical measures taken by members of the military establishment and security services in the southern region in the face of the repercussions of the unfortunate events that the country’s southern neighbors are experiencing, renewing his call on the relevant ministries and the Central Bank to quickly submit detailed financial statements, especially related to Chapter Three for the year 2022.

Al-Manfi added that Sabha has always represented the most important pillar of any national project and its people were linked to the just national and Islamic issues of our nation.

Al-Manfi stressed that everyone must protect the facilities of the National Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company and agree on a comprehensive strategy for the energy sector by forming a technical committee of experts in particular.

As he said, “We are surprised by the questioning of the legality of the formation of the committee more than 60 days after its formation, and we confirm that the Constitutional Chamber is active and can be appealed to.”

The Chairman of the Committee added that our continued holding of Finance Committee meetings in all cities and regions of Libya is a real indicator of the recovery of the security situation in our country and the promotion of national reconciliation over what is below it. The Committee is also continuing with its national duty, which is clearly supported unanimously by the Security Council in line with its package of decisions in particular, including the political agreement and the road map.

Massouda Al-Aswad: “The Operating Budget of Educational Institutions for the New Academic Year Amounted to about 85 Million LYD”

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Massouda Al-Aswad, said that the operating budget of educational institutions for the new academic year amounted to about 85 million dinars.

Massouda added that the distribution was according to the number of students in each monitoring, indicating that 80% of the schools had complete data and were ready to spend their budget, and that the schools located in 45 monitoring had bank accounts that had received their checks out of 90 monitoring.

Al-Aswad explained that schools that do not have a bank account will be disbursed to them in trust and the school principal will receive it, pointing out that the disbursement items include four sections, which are light maintenance operations, school activity, general cleanliness, stationery, and the needs determined by the controller with the school principal.

She indicated the necessity of closing the custody before the 15th of next December, noting that every manager who does not close the custody will have it closed from his salary.

It is worth noting that the number of schools that received students in their new academic year reached 6,383 schools, while the number of students and students for the basic and secondary education levels reached 2 million, 345 thousand and 668 student.

The Bank launches a new messaging service 15051 for local cards, Ifaa card and Friend card and Student card.

Mohamed Saeed explained that this service provides a set of electronic services, which include knowing the card balance, activating and stopping it, and revealing the card account. It also enables the customer to inquire about his card balance, obtain his account statement, activate the card for the first time or upon renewing its validity, and stop its validity in case of loss or theft, in addition to other electronic services.
