Dbeibeh indicates the necessity of holding international and local food exhibitions and stresses the increase in trade exchange between Libya and Tunisia

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh inaugurated the Libya Food Fair today, in the presence of the Ministers of Economy and Trade, of the State for Cabinet Affairs, the General Secretary of the Council of Ministers, the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the President and members of the General Exhibitions Authority, and a number of businessmen.

Dbeibeh, accompanied by the Tunisian ambassador to Libya, inspected the pavilions of Tunisian products, and the increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries was emphasized.

He also instructed the necessity of holding such exhibitions that will support local industries and the necessity of holding international exhibitions in this field.

Bashagha: « We will reach the capital, Tripoli, in the next few days, and there will be no other parallel government »

The Libyan Prime Minister designated from the House of Representatives, Fathi Bashagha, confirmed that he intends to move to the capital in the most peaceful way possible, stressing that his government will not be involved in any violence or conflict.

Bashagha said : « We will reach the capital, Tripoli, in the next few days, and there will be no other parallel government, and the reason we have not entered Tripoli so far is to avoid the risk of conflict. »

The Libyan Prime Minister designated added that his goal is to lead the country to parliamentary and presidential elections, but he did not specify a time frame, stressing that even if Dbeibeh actually remained in the prime minister’s office in the capital, this would not prevent him from starting his work in Tripoli elsewhere.

The American ambassador reveals efforts to gather Bashagha and Dbeibeh at the negotiating table to reach a political understanding

The US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, revealed his efforts to conduct negotiations between the Libyan Prime Minister designated from the House of Representatives, Fathi Bashagha and the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to reach a political understanding.

After his meeting on Saturday in the Tunisian capital, the US ambassador confirmed the latter’s readiness to engage in urgent negotiations facilitated by the United Nations with the aim of reaching a political understanding with the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government on how to manage the final stages of this interim government period and prepare for elections. Parliamentary and presidential as soon as possible.

The ambassador Norland indicated that the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, is ready to participate in these talks, whose form and place will be determined by the interlocuting parties in consultation with the United Nations and international partners, stressing that the position of the United States of America in particular is clear and it respects the right of Libyans decide their own future.

The US ambassador urged the Libyan parties to reach a political solution through peaceful means only without resorting to violence, reiterating that free, fair and inclusive elections are the only formula for lasting stability, adding that « in the current situation, championing one party against another is not an option and the only position that can be chosen. The most justifiable is the peaceful negotiations. »

Al-Zani confirms the government’s keenness to restore life to the multilateral institutions during his meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States

The Central Bank reveals the consolidated budget of commercial banks for the year of 2021

The consolidated budget of commercial banks at the end of 2021 witnessed developments in all of its items on both sides of assets and liabilities, bringing the total assets within the consolidated budget to about 135,977 million dinars, compared to 126.107 million dinars at the end of 2020, with an increase of 9,869 million dinars, which means a rate of 7.8%.

The report revealed an analysis of the items constituting the consolidated budget of commercial banks, including cash assets in safes and clearing accounts, the cash balance in safes and clearing accounts increased by 2,180 million dinars, or 32.4%, to reach 8,912 million dinars at the end of 2021, compared to 6, 731 million dinars at the end of 2020, due to an increase in cash in bank coffers by 1,724 million dinars, while the item of clearing accounts increased by 456.2 million dinars at the end of 2021.

As for balances and deposits with the Central Bank of Libya and other banks, they amounted to about 89,916 million dinars at the end of 2021, compared to 89,836 million dinars at the end of 2020, with a slight increase of 0.1%, as a result of the increase in the balance of their deposits with correspondents abroad, as well as with the Libyan Bank. The foreign exchange amounted to 1,210 million dinars and 6,103 million, respectively, and an important part of this increase was the result of the revaluation after adjusting the exchange rate at the beginning of the year 2021 despite the decrease in the balance of demand deposits with the Central Bank of Libya by 3,789 million dinars, as well as a decrease in the balance of certificates of deposit by 2,948 million dinars.

On Friday, a number of social media pages circulated rumors that Al-Kabeer and Al-Hebri agreed to reduce the dollar exchange rate from the Central Bank to 3.48 dinars, which means by reducing one dinar from the previous price, at the beginning of next May, which was denied by the Central Bank official confirming that it is incorrect news.

Some economic analysts believe that this is an appropriate time to reduce the dollar exchange rate in the Central Bank, especially with the rise in oil prices in global markets, and that this will help citizens to confront the rise in prices of basic commodities.

The National Trailers Company signs a cooperation agreement with China’s JCK Company

Within the plans to develop and raise production and competitive capabilities in the Libyan market, the National Company for Trailers signed during the beginning of last February a cooperation agreement between it and the Chinese company JCK specialized in trucks, heavy machinery, gantry and forklifts and others, which operates according to Japanese specifications and the engine and its spare parts are from the German company Bosch. It is a company that is present in the global market in Europe, America, and Algeria. It even has factories, Egypt, Africa, Saudi Arabia and others.

The aim of signing the agreement is to provide trucks from three families, light, medium and heavy. Now, the family of light trucks has been established, where 10 trucks have been supplied, and work is underway to manufacture their equipment before they are put on the Libyan market.

Pottery, the inherited industry, and attempts to save it from vanishing

The sale of pottery, which represents a pride of the industry in the mountainous city of Gharyan, described as the “pottery capital” in northwestern Libya, has declined a lot. In an effort to salvage their generations-old craft, artisans are betting on internet service to boost revenues from the local pottery sale.

Some 80 kilometers south of Tripoli, there are dozens of shops selling pottery in Gharyan. With the abundance of supply and the lack of demand, Moayed Al-Shabani, 35 years old, launched the “Pottery at the Door of the House” project to deliver pottery to customers inside and outside Libya.

Hundreds of items of Libyan pottery are displayed in the shops, including colorful dishes and drinking water pots with their distinctive decorations and mosaics, as well as decorative pieces for the walls and pots for seedlings.
