The Public Prosecution ordered on Monday the detention of the branch manager of Sahara Bank in Derna and his assistant, pending investigations in the case of embezzlement of 87 thousand dinars, until the collection of a sum of 11 thousand US dollars.
The Public Prosecution Office explained that the Public Prosecutor undertook the investigation into the embezzlement of a sum of 87 thousand dinars from the intermediary account of the bank branch, and the collection of a sum of 11 thousand US dollars using direct debit cards “Visa” financed by some clients of the bank branch for the purpose of obtaining the allowances of heads of families without their knowledge and consent. The General Attorney’s office added that in view of the existence of sufficient evidence for the authenticity of attributing the embezzlement incident to the bank branch manager and his assistant, the investigator concluded a number of decisions; In particular, he ordered the provisional detention of the branch manager and his assistant, pending the case, and filing a criminal case against them.
