The novel “Bread on Uncle Milad’s Table” by young writer Mohamed Al-Naas won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction, which is considered the youngest winner of the prize in its history, after he snatched the title of winning it from among a list that included Egyptian, Emirati, Kuwaiti, Moroccan and Omani novels that were participating in the Arab Booker Prize.
The novel “Bread at Uncle Milad’s Table” is the first Libyan novel to win the award, but it is not the first Libyan novel to reach the short list, as it was previously nominated for the novel of Najwa Bin Shatwan in 2017.
As the French Press Agency explained, with this win, Al-Naas who is not over 31 years old becomes the youngest winner of this award in the world since its inception.
