Idris Al-Sharif: « The Central Bank should take an urgent decision to raise the exchange rate of the Libyan dinar against foreign currencies to reduce the impact of inflation »

The economist and former undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Idris Al-Sharif, said that the Directors Board of the Central Bank of Libya should take an urgent decision to raise the exchange rate of the Libyan dinar against foreign currencies to alleviate the impact of imported inflation on the real incomes of citizens.

He was surprised that the Central Bank had not changed the exchange rate until now, although all conditions were ripe for that, saying : « The price is 4.48 dinars for the exaggerated dollar, which was said when it was approved at the time that it was going towards the reduction; It looks like it was fixed and couldn’t be changed ! »

Al-Sharif confirmed that all the data indicate that the Central Bank of Libya is easily able to meet the demand and defend a price much lower than this price for a long time.
