Today, Saturday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Seddiq Al-Kabeer, concluded his talks with experts of the International Monetary Fund on the reality of the Libyan economy, which lasted for a week in the Tunisian capital, in the presence of the Ministers of Economy, of Trade, of Finance and of Planning of the Government of National Unity, in addition to officials of the Statistics and Census Authority and directors of the relevant departments of the Central Bank. .
The discussions dealt with ways to return to Article 4 consultations, which have been suspended since 2014, as well as the reality of the Libyan economy, the stages it has gone through during the past years, and the measures taken to limit the negative effects created by successive crises. The attendees also discussed the measures taken by the Central Bank of Libya to maintain the financial sustainability of the state in light of the exceptional circumstances the country is going through.
At the conclusion of the talks, the governor, Al-Kabeer, expressed his happiness at the return of such consultations in the presence of all ministries and institutions concerned with the Libyan economic affairs, wishing to move forward to correct the country’s financial and economic tracks and the need to unify efforts to develop a comprehensive economic vision and to hold more meetings periodically between state institutions and fund experts.
