Dbeibeh participates in the celebration of the Ministry of Interior on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the National Police Day

Today, Saturday, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, participated in the Mina Al-Shaab Square in the capital, Tripoli, in the celebration of the Ministry of the Interior on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the National Police Day, with the presence of the Ministers of Interior, Badr El-Din Al-Toumi, of Social Affairs, Wafa Al-Kilani, of Justice, Halima Al-Bousifi, and heads of a number of Security agencies and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Libya.

Dbeibeh stressed during his speech at the celebration that the commemoration of the anniversary of the establishment of the police is an opportunity to assure everyone that the security institution is fine with the determination of its leaders and personnel, and that the National Unity Government will not stop supporting police personnel to obtain their rights.

Today, Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Hussein Al-Qatrani, participated in the international conference in Hammamet, Tunisia, to promote sustainable agriculture and food security in Arab and African countries, which deals with the role of the public and private sectors.

The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Abu Bakr Al-Mansuri, the Chairman of the National Planning Council, Miftah Harir, and the Director of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, Mahmoud Al Futaisi, along with Arab and African delegations.

Al-Akari enumerates the reasons for the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank to amend the exchange rate at 4.26 dinars to the dollar

The banking expert and member of the exchange rate adjustment committee, Misbah Al-Akari, explained the reasons for the Central Bank of Libya’s board of directors taking early this month a decision to amend the exchange rate and reduce it to 4.26 dinars per dollar.

Al-Akari said in a post on his official Facebook page today, Friday, that this decision came for several reasons, including the stability of oil prices above 85 dollars a barrel, the stability of production rates, the appointment of a new management for the National Oil Corporation, the need to address high rates of inflation, a decrease in the money supply by more than 20%, in addition to approving an exceptional budget for the institution to increase production capacity.

Al-Akari added that among the reasons are also the passage of one year and nine months since the decision to reduce the value of the Libyan dinar to 4.48 dinars and promises to review this price whenever economic conditions improve, and the state of economic stagnation the country is going through, and one of the reasons is the weak purchasing power of the Libyan dinar, in addition to the need to restrain the government to reduce spending, especially consumer spending.

Al-Huwaij, Al-Kabeer and Al-Raid participate in the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum in Istanbul

A high-level Libyan delegation headed by the Minister of Economy and Trade in the National Unity Government, Mohamed Al-Huwaij, participated in the activities of the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum, which was held yesterday in Istanbul, Turkey, and was devoted to discussing investment prospects between Turkey and Arab countries, business and investment opportunities in Libya, and economic transformation in the economies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The delegation of the State of Libya participating in this forum included, in addition to the Minister of Economy, Mohamed Al-Huwaij, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Seddiq Al-Kabeer, and the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mohamed Al-Raid, the head of the Libyan Company for the Management of Joint Projects with the Private Sector, Abdul Majid Mleigta, the Libyan Consul General in Istanbul, Salah Al-Din Al-Kaseh, and the Libyan Commercial Attaché in Istanbul, Omar Darhub.

In his speech during the forum, Al-Huwaij stressed the importance of economic exchange between Libya and Turkey, adding that the State of Turkey was and still is the first partner in construction, infrastructure and trade projects in the past, present and future. He explained that the future vision of the national unity government is to strive to diversify the sources of income in the Libyan state with Turkey and the countries of the whole world and not to rely on oil income only.

Dbeibeh clarifies the details of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Turkish government

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, explained the details of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Government of National Unity and the Turkish government, in a recorded video broadcast by the government’s platforms today, Wednesday, of Dbeibeh’s meeting with a number of women leaders yesterday evening.

Dbeibeh said that the agreement provides for the promotion and development of bilateral scientific, technical, technological, legal, administrative, and commercial cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons, through the exchange of information and experiences, training of human resources, joint organization of seminars and exhibitions, and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors in the two countries.

He added that the agreement stipulated cooperation between the two countries in projects related to the development and use of hydrocarbon resources, and the development of projects related to exploration, production, transportation, refining, distribution and trade of hydrocarbons, production and trade of oil, gas, petrochemicals and refined petroleum products, and an emphasis on ensuring exploration, development and increased production.

It also stipulated that the Libyan party, represented by the National Oil Corporation, guarantee to invite the Turkish Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries to participate in onshore projects in Libya and conclude agreements and contracts with them to work in petroleum operations, including exploration, development, production, separation, and treatment in the current and future onshore and offshore fields, and encourage The establishment of partnerships and joint projects and the use of research vessels, in addition to agreeing on the development and operation of oil and gas pipelines, joint work in the field of investments, and encouraging and supporting public and private partnerships between the two countries.

Dbeibeh indicated that the agreement confirmed that it does not affect the ongoing projects, as well as that this Memorandum of Understanding may be amended at any time with the joint written consent of the two parties and that it shall remain in force for a period of three years with the possibility of renewal, and may be terminated by either of the parties at any time, provided that three months’ prior written notice is given.
