Turkish trade minister meets her Libyan counterpart

 The Turkish trade minister, Ruhsar Pekcan, met on Monday with Libya’s new Minister of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohamed Hwej, and the Minister of Planning, Fakher Boufrana, as part of a high-level delegation paying an official visit to the capital Ankara.

Ruhsar Pekcan said Turkey will continue to back Libya’s economic development efforts with its all resources, adding that Turkey’s cooperation for investment and technical cooperation in all fields from industry to infrastructure and superstructure investments, from health to energy, from education to banking will continue.

CBL board members confirm the illegality of Al-Kabir’s decision

Members of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) sent a correspondence to the CBL governor, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, concerning his decision to form a new management committee.

In their correspondence, the CBL board members confirmed the illegality of Al-Kabir’s decision to form a new management committee headed by Mohamad Ali al-Darrat from the National Front Party for the Libyan Foreign Bank.

Turkey’s Ronesans signs MOUs on Libya power plants, airport terminal

Turkish conglomerate Ronesans Holding has signed memorandums of understanding with Libya to build a new international terminal for Tripoli airport, three power plants and a shopping mall.

The agreements were signed by representatives of Ronesans and Libya at a televised ceremony in the Turkish capital Ankara on Monday evening.

Aksa Enerji also signed a power plant construction accord with Libya’s GECOL at the ceremony.

Libyan Parliament schedules session to discuss 2021 state budget

The Libyan Parliament called on MPs to attend a plenary session scheduled for next Monday in Tobruk to discuss the state’s budget bill.

In a statement published on its official website, the Libyan Parliament called on the Planning, Finance and General Budget Committees to submit their report on the draft before the scheduled session.

CBL governor discusses improving payment services

Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Al-Siddiq Al-kabir, held a meeting on Sunday with the general directors of several commercial banks.

The meeting highlighted the need to improve mobile payment services. It was also dedicated to discussing support for commercial banks and ways to enable them deliver cash to all their branches throughout the country.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbaiba arrives in Turkey

Libya’s interim Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh arrived in Turkey on Monday at the invitation of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

As part of the two-day official visit, the first meeting of the Turkey-Libya High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council will be held in the capital Ankara, said a statement by the Turkish Communications Directorate.

The council meeting will be jointly chaired by Erdogan and Dbeibeh, and will be attended by ministers from both countries, the statement said.

The meeting will focus on current regional and international issues, and will review all aspects of bilateral relations between Turkey and Libya.

It will also discuss steps to further enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Faisel Gergab:” We have not financed any conflicting parties”

During his televised interview for Libyan WTV channel and Tabadul Platform, the Chairman of the Telecommunication and Information Technoligy Holding Company, Dr. Faisel Gergab, affirmed that the communications sector has maintained its unity and independence despite all the divisions, adding:” we have not  meddled in the country’s political affairs… We have not financed any conflicting parties.”

“Over the past period, some holding companies have witnessed a number of administrative difficulties, among which were: Al Bounya Company For Investment & Services, and Libya Post Company… However, we have the administrative and financial authority over all the sector companies.”

” Since 2016, Al Bounya Company For Investment & Services has entered into a very dark tunnel. For instance, instead of considering means of development, ways of generating revenues and the possibility of salary payment, we got into adminstrative issues,” Dr. Faisel Gergab explained, adding:” more than 600 employees have been randomly recruited, which placed a significant burden on the company.

According to Dr. Gergab, the Telecommunication and Information Technoligy Holding Company spent over 860 million dinars on Al Bounya Company’s salaries.

Sirte lifts curfew, resumes studies

The Spokesman of the Steering Council of the municipality of Sirte announced that the city’s Covid-19 curfew will be lifted on Friday.

He also confirmed the resumption of studies in all kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools. As well as in all intermediate and higher vocational institutes, and at Sirte University.

Luigi Di Maio:” Libya needs Italy’s support on its Reconstruction Efforts”

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said that Libya needs the support of Italian companies for its reconstruction efforts, primarily through investments.

“Libya now has a unified government that tells Italy that the country has money from oil revenues, and it wants Italian companies to build highways, airports and invest,” Di Maio said according to the Italian agency Nova.
