The Chairman of the Board of the High National Elections Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, agreed with the Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephanie Williams, on the continuation of the technical and advisory support provided by the UN mission to the commission.
This came during the meeting, which brought together Al-Sayeh and Williams today, Sunday, at the headquarters of the Commission in Tripoli, in the presence of a member of the Commission’s Council, Abdul Hakim Al-Shaab where they discussed the support provided by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the United Nations Development Program in Libya to the Commission, that aims to enhance its readiness towards implementing an electoral process that rises to high levels of international principles and practices.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the need to continue providing the necessary support to maintain the readiness of the Commission was stressed, as well as to maintain close communication between the Commission and the United Nations Mission in order to exchange technical information related to the implementation of future electoral processes.
