The Ministry of Oil responds to questions about extending the gas pipeline from Libya to Damietta and the pipeline to Greece

Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity clarified, through its official Facebook page, the questions it received from those interested in the public affair and a number of oil and gas experts, which were focused on extending a gas pipeline from Libya to Damietta and another pipeline from Libya to Greece.

The Ministry of Oil replied that regarding the construction of a line from Libya to Damietta in Egypt to establish a gas liquefaction plant, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Oil Corporation and the Italian company Eni, in 2007 for the establishment of a gas liquefaction plant in Libya. This memorandum was amended in 2008, and both of them stipulated a preliminary engineering study for the establishment of a gas liquefaction plant and paid a signature grant of $500 million upon agreement on this project. At that time, the Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, was the head of the High Negotiations Committee.

The Ministry of Oil added during its clarification that a line filled with Sicily Green Stream was established and work began in 2004, and regarding that the European network is considered one network and includes Greece as well, there is no point in establishing this line.
