The House of Representatives votes unanimously on a roadmap for holding elections within a period not exceeding 14 months from the date of the constitutional amendment

The House of Representatives, during its session held today in the city of Tobruk, voted unanimously on a road map for holding elections within a period not exceeding 14 months from the date of the constitutional amendment.

The decree stipulated the adoption of the roadmap submitted by the committee formed by the House of Representatives so that the electoral entitlement would take place within a period not exceeding 14 months from the date of the constitutional amendment, provided that the committee consults with the State Council Committee to present the final version on the constitutional amendment, including a precise definition of the articles required to achieve the electoral process within a framework not exceeding the specified time, and a maximum deadline of one week to vote on it in conjunction with granting confidence to the government.

The decree also stipulated that, after members of the House of Representatives listened to the projects of the candidates for prime minister, Fathi Bashagha and Khaled Al-Bibas, the Presidency of the Council would refer the names of the candidates to the State Council to submit the required recommendations regarding them, provided that the vote to choose one of the candidates will be in next Thursday’s session.
