The Government of National Unity will establish a committee to examine the mechanism for replacing direct fuel support with cash support
Today, Thursday, the Cabinet of the National Unity Government issued a decision to form a committee to study the mechanism of replacing direct fuel support with cash support.
This committee was chaired, according to the decision, by the Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Salama Al-Ghweil, with the membership of the Minister of Local Government and the designated Minister of Planning, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, the Adviser to the Central Bank of Libya, the Director-General of the National Center, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brega Petroleum Marketing Company, and a representative of the Audit Bureau, in addition to three economists.
The decision issued by the Council of Ministers stated that the committee should inventory the imported and locally produced quantities of fuel annually and the total cost of the imported and produced quantities, determine the value of the support for each citizen according to the annual support budget, in addition to determining the equilibrium price of fuels used for additional consumption, and determining the mechanism for distributing cash support among citizens and ways to implement them.
The decision also indicated that the committee submits a detailed report to be presented to the Council of Ministers within a maximum period of one month from today’s date.
