Head of the Bakers Syndicate in the Eastern Region, Mahmoud Al-Aribi, to our source: “We were surprised about the presence of potassium bromate, and that the issue appeared at this present time”

The head of the Bakers Syndicate in the Eastern Region, Mahmoud Al-Aribi, said today, Saturday, in an exclusive statement to our source, that the syndicate was surprised by the advanced position of the Ministry of Education about the presence of “potassium bromate”.  “We did not know the reason for its appearance and its purpose at this time. This topic happened”, pointing out that “we, as a bakery union in Libya, are surprised by this issue that happened.”

Al-Aribi added that “the Bakers Syndicate is only manufacturers. We receive raw materials from mill companies, and we do not know the validity and safety of this substance. The authority concerned with this is the Food and Drug Control Center, which denied its existence with negative results for the samples.”

The head of the Bakers Syndicate explained that last week, the Food and Drug Control Center rejected a ship carrying 34,000 tons of inedible wheat, and some traders were entering it into the country with the desire to eat it for the Libyans after it was rejected by the countries Turkey, Lebanon and Algeria.
