The proceeds of unofficial and smuggled trade between Libya, Tunisia and Algeria reached the range of 1.8 and 2.4 billion dollars, respectively, which means 11.760 billion dinars.
These illegal financial flows are incurring losses in the region, and a study conducted by the Global Financial Integrity Organization showed that Tunisia incurs a loss of more than $1.2 billion, about 4 billion dinars annually, due to informal financial funds.
In 2013, this amount rose to more than two billion dollars in 2013 (5.6 billion dinars), or 181 dollars per person.
