The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, stated today, Thursday, that « the National Unity Government will only be handed over to an authority elected by the people, as our goal is to serve the Libyans and stop the war ».
Dbeibeh said during a television interview that there were those who tried to enter Tripoli by force in the past, and now we see another attempt to enter Tripoli by force in another guise. I bet it is with the same mentality and the same steps. We do not want to enter into a war and the people of Tripoli are the ones who will defend it. There can be no room for understanding except the elections.
Dbeibeh added that the Prime Minister of the Government of National Stability, Fathi Bashagha, is a political person, and we cannot limit his desires. He moves as he wants, but whoever wants to enter the country in bloody conditions cannot be reached with him..
The Prime Minister indicated that the government and the House of Representatives do not have any disagreement, but « our dispute with them is at the point of the elections. They are the ones who created a major force, and today they extend for themselves two years, while its validity is one year and a half. Today it enters its eighth year ».
Abdul Hamid revealed that when he took power, we found the state overwhelmed by the difficult economic situation, and we achieved a lot in this government, indicating that all Libyans have the right to participate in the elections.
He continued by saying: « The Parliament Speaker Aquila Saleh has had a problem with me since his loss at Geneva Forum and did not accept the loss ». He commented on his candidacy for the presidency that « I do not disagree with anyone. For example, Khaled Shakshak is a candidate and he is the head of the Audit Bureau. Also, there are other people who had held previous positions ».
Dbeibeh revealed that the Speaker of Parliament, Aqila Saleh, asked him to be excluded from the elections in return for his remaining in the presidency for another 6 months, indicating that the response to him was that he will exit the elections when all the candidates who held positions in the past are out and that he did not challenge Aqila Saleh neither Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi nor anyone else, this is up to the people.
