Russian Prime Minister says safe investments are important for return of Russian companies to Libya

Safety of investments is important for the return of Russian companies to Libya, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during negotiations with his Libyan counterpart Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, according to the Russian news agency TASS.

“As for investments, at the stage of establishing new government agencies it is important to take effective decisions that would guarantee certain rights to those who make investments. Guarantees for investments are very important today for the return of Russian companies to Libya,” Mishustin stressed.

He noted that the two countries should take joint efforts to create favorable conditions for the return of Russian business to Libya.

“We have good opportunities in energy, industries, transport infrastructure, agro-industrial sector. We are also ready to offer our solutions in digital services to our Libyan friends,” Mishustin said.

The Russian Prime Minister also pointed at the decline in bilateral trade and said that the moment the trade turnover between Russia and Libya is estimated at $120 mln.

Russian President holds phone call with Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba

The Kremlin said the Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Thursday with the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba.

Putin welcomed the formation of the interim GNU, which is scheduled to pave the way for elections at the end of the year.  He also reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to continue efforts aimed at establishing progressive social and economic development in Libya.

The Kremlin added that Dbaiba expressed his gratitude for the delivery of a batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to Libya.

 Libyan Prime Minister Abdelhamid al-Dbaiba arrived in Moscow on Thursday for talks with his Russian counterparts on developments in Libya and bilateral cooperation.

Libya’s NOC: March revenues more than US$ 2 billion

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced Thursday that the general revenue for the month of March 2021 resulted from the sales of crude oil, gas, condensate, petroleum products and petrochemicals has reached record levels of US$ 2,052,178,786.17.

In a statement, the NOC said the increase is attributed to the fact that the revenues of February reflect 28 days in the calendar, while the collection of the value of the exported shipments takes place within thirty days, which gave an increase in the revenues of March compared to the achieved revenue in February.

The NOC pointed out that an amount of US$ 2,000,000,000.00 was transferred to the sovereign’s account of which US$ 1,498,632,437,86 were from the revenues of the month of March, according to the instructions of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity.

It is worth mentioning that the National Oil Corporation has transferred US$ 5,883,719,900.87 to the treasury account at the Central Bank of Libya, and the remainder of the public treasury rights to date is about US$ 1,074,911,840.00, while the value of US$ 79,264,419.94 constitutes the rights of NOC, and the amount subject to settlements with partners is US$ 2,334,149,253.86.

Libya’s Minister of Gas and Oil:” $1.6 billion allocated to the NOC”

Libya’s Minister of Gas and Oil, Mohamed Oun, announced that the country’s oil sector will receive sufficient funding to advance oil facilities and increase its output, pointing out that a budget of approximately $1.6 billion has been allocated to the National Oil Corporation (NOC).

“There is a reasonable allotment of funds for oil-sector activities. We believe it may suffice for the remaining 10 months of 2021,” said Mohamed Oun .

Supreme Judiciary Council reveals candidates’ names for the position of next attorney general

The Libyan House of Representatives had received a correspondence from Supreme Judiciary Council containing the names of seven candidates for the post of Attorney General.

According to the Supreme Judiciary Council, the seven candidates are; Abdul-Hadi al-Haddad, Fathi Abdul-Salam Saad, Muhammad Abdul-Wahab Salim, al-Siddiq Ahmad al-Sur, Jamal Ali Hadiya, Muhammad Salem al-Hudayri, Ibrahim Ali al-Ajili, and Kamal al-Ajili al-Bahri.

Al-Wahda Bank spokesman says liquidity is available

The official spokesman of Al-Wahda Bank, Ahmed Al-Turki, told Tabadul on Wednesday that cash is available in different branches of Al-Wahda bank all over the country.

Al-Turki stressed that Al-Wahda Bank has taken steps to ensure cash availability before the holy month of Ramadan, adding that cash will be available until after Eid al-Fitr.

According to Al-Turki, cash withdrawal limit for customers is LD 1000 per month, stressing that it can rise to LD 1500 per month in the coming days.

Libya’s NOC to OPEC: “March crude output reached 1.28 million b/d”

Libya pumped 1.283 million b/d of crude in March, the North African producer revealed to OPEC in the producer group’s latest monthly oil market report.

According to Hellenic Shipping News, crude production in March rose by 100,000 b/d compared to 1.183 million in February, the report released on April 13, showed. Production in the first quarter of 2021 and January averaged 1.214 million b/d and 1.172 million b/d, respectively.

This is the first time that Libya has officially reported a monthly production figure to OPEC since March 2015. OPEC voluntary requests its members to self-report a crude output figure every month.

Egypt sends medical aid to Libya

 The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity (GNU) announced on Tuesday that Egypt dispatched medical aid supplies to Libya.

According to the Ministry’s statement, two military jets were loaded with medical supplies and took off from Cairo, heading for Sebha International Airport, in southern Libya to unload the shipment.

Tunisian Airline to resume flights to Libya

Tunis Air announced on Tuesday the resumption of flights to Libya  starting from April 27.

According to the Tunisian Airline, there will be three weekly flights from Tunis Carthage airport to Tripoli, as well as two weekly flights to Benghazi.

It also added that starting from May 14,  flights to Tripoli will be increased to seven weekly flights, while flights to Benghazi will be increased to three flights per week.
