Williams discusses supporting economic development and addressing internal divisions with Bartolo

The Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Evarist Bartolo met Stephanie Williams, the Special Advisor on Libya to the General Secretary of the United Nations, on Saturday and exchanged views on the situation in Libya during a telephone call.

Bartolo conveyed to Williams the readiness of the Prime Minister Robert Abela for Malta to back her work in promoting an inclusive intra Libyan dialogue and in mobilising regional and international support to seek common ground for the common good of all the Libyan people.

He also told her that new steps are needed to support the political, social and economic development of the Libyan people to regain control of their own destiny, heal internal divisions, build national and inclusive institutions for the benefit of all.

An important meeting of the Central Bank of Libya to discuss the financial and economic conditions in the country

Sunday morning, an important meeting was held at the headquarters of the Central Bank in Tripoli, which brought together the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, the Governor of the Central Bank Seddik Al-Kabeer, the President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al-Manfi, the President of the Supreme Council of State Khaled Al-Mashri and the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Fawzi Al-Nuiri.

According to the Information Office of the Central Bank of Libya, the meeting discussed efforts to unify the Directors Board of the Central Bank and ways to support it, in addition to following up on the financial and economic situation in the country.

Dbeibeh follows up the implementation of the unified salary schedule and insists on completing the preparation of the 2022 budget

The Prime Minister of the of National Unity Government “Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh” held a meeting with the Minister of Finance, the Undersecretary for Institutional Affairs and a number of directors of departments in the ministry, where they discussed the executive procedures for the unified salary scale, in addition to the releases for workers in the education sector and the bonuses for workers in the Social Solidarity Fund.

The meeting also discussed the measures taken to pay the rewards of workers in the isolation centers and the need to work on completing these files urgently due to their importance and the delay in completing a number of them.

For his part, the Minister of Finance stressed during this meeting that the unified salary schedule was referred to the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives to express its observations on it, as well as to the Accounting Department to be referred later to the House of Representatives to issue the necessary law, stressing that the ministry is following up on all the files that were discussed and work is underway to be completed during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

Dbeibeh insisted on the Minister of Finance, as head of the budget preparation committee for the year 2022, to complete it, and refer it to the House of Representatives in order to issue the necessary law for it He also stressed the need to address all the observations received regarding it.

Signing a cooperation agreement between the Ministries of Technical and Vocational Education and of Social Affairs

The Minister of Technical and Vocational Education, Khalaf Saeed Al-Sifaw, signed a memorandum for cooperation in the field of technical and vocational education and training, with the Minister of Social Affairs, Wafaa Al-Kilani, as part of the implementation of the national project for prosthetic limbs, in order to provide distinguished services to amputees and ensure the restoration of amputees. rehabilitate them.

The memorandum included the Empowerment and Economy Program for Productive Families and participation in research in the technical and social aspects, in addition to cooperation to modernize joint educational programs, through the two parties’ efforts to facilitate and encourage the development of new educational programs leading to the establishment of new and modern departments that oversee advanced outputs in this field.

Ali Al-Hibri: « The unified salary schedule will raise the salary item to 60 billion dinars, which will exacerbate the liquidity crisis »

The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Ali al-Hibri, said that the unified salary schedule that will be issued soon will raise the salary item in the 2022 budget to nearly 60 billion dinars, nearly the double of the amount spent on salaries last year 2021, which amounted to 33.1 billion dinars.

Al-Hibri warned that this rise in salaries will exacerbate the liquidity crisis, explaining that the Central Bank will be required to provide cash liquidity of 4 billion per month, saying: « This amount is impossible to provide unless the Central Bank owns a printing press to print money ».
