Aoun: “Despite all circumstances, we succeeded in the oil and gas sector in providing budgets for the Libyan state”

The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Aoun, said today, Saturday, that the oil and gas sector in Libya succeeded in all circumstances, whether during the period of the previous regime or after the February 17 revolution, in maintaining the provision of sufficient income to the budgets of the Libyan state.

Aoun stressed the importance of encouraging the Libya Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Fair to be held next November, which is an opportunity for investors, national companies and the private sector to present various projects that benefit the country, pointing to the formation of several committees to look into the state’s capabilities with regard to Gas and Shale Oil.

In his speech during the preparatory symposium for the exhibition, the minister touched on the recent decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of National Unity to transfer the affiliation of the General Company for Oil and Gas Distribution to the Ministry of Oil, which is responsible for transporting and distributing laurel inside and outside Libyan cities.

Aoun concluded his speech by saying that Libya is the fifth country in the world in oil reserves, which gives the government a great opportunity to exploit the vast wealth in developing the country.
