The Minister of Economy in the Government of National Unity issued Resolution No. 258 of 2021 on August 2, 2021, banning the import of potassium bromate and its symbol in the Harmonized System for Classification of Commodities (9021-29-28), which is listed as a chemical compound.
The decision also stipulated banning the use of potassium bromate by the owners of bakeries, factories and factories of sweets and pastries in all its forms and classifications in the production and manufacture of baked goods and pastries, and mill owners are completely prohibited from adding it in the production of flour, and it is strictly forbidden to market or deal with it in any form.
He also directed the police authorities, judicial officers and members of the Municipal Guard to seize violators of the provisions of the decision, withdraw their licenses, confiscate the material and refer them to the competent authorities to punish them in accordance with the legislation in force.
