The General Secretary of the United Nations calls for continuing to ensure that such critical decisions are taken in a transparent and consensual manner

Commenting on the decision of the House of Representatives to choose a new prime minister, the General Secretary United Nations Antonio Guterres called today, Friday, to continue to ensure that such critical decisions are taken in a transparent and consensual manner.

According to a statement attributed to the official spokesman of the United Nations on Libya, in which he confirmed that the General Secretary of the United Nations is closely following the situation in Libya, and he took note of the vote that took place yesterday in the House of Representatives, in consultation with the High Council of State, to adopt the constitutional amendment that charts a course for the process of reviewing the draft constitution for the year 2017 and for the electoral process, as well as by the vote of the House of Representatives to appoint a new prime minister.

The General Secretary called on all parties to continue to maintain stability in Libya as a first priority, and remind all institutions of the primary goal of holding national elections as quickly as possible in order to ensure respect for the political will of the 2.8 million Libyan citizens who have registered to vote.
