The British Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Hurndall, rejected accusations that there are British interests and goals behind her repeated meetings with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Seddiq Al-Kabeer, noting that the Central Bank is an important Libyan institution and plays a vital role in the stability and prosperity of the country, and therefore the British Embassy maintains good relations with it.

“We are dealing with institutions. We do not have a solid interest with individuals, and we do not deal with them more or less than other Libyan institutions,” Hurndall said during an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, adding that she is also working with Libyan institutions such as the Audit Bureau to investigate Cases of financial corruption, the prosecution of some of the personalities involved in this type, and the recovery of the money they smuggled.

Regarding the criticisms leveled at her country regarding siding with the current political Islam, the British ambassador confirmed that these allegations are not true, explaining that the United Kingdom does not spread any particular ideology in Libya, but encourages all parties to engage in political dialogue to find a way out of the current crisis.
